Children are very blatant in their facial expressions, as well as their actions. A child who told a lie, is most likely to gush, and cover his mouth, with an obvious act to conceal such action. Whereas an adult who told a lie is just most likely to touch his lip, a more refined and unobvious charge to conceal such act (Pease and Pease 25). When it comes to lying, though, children and adults both lie and the reasons behind it are usually to ones own benefit. A child is most likely to lie to escape punishment, while an adult may lie to impress someone, to get his way, or to protect others, even themselves (Zolten and Long).
